Playtest Tables at MBGF

The Playtest Tables are your chance to showcase in-development games, test mechanics, and gather valuable feedback directly from players. Whether you’re fine-tuning a prototype or exploring a brand-new concept, MBGF is the perfect place to bring your ideas to life.

Key Information

Who can book? Your Playtest Table booking now includes one admission ticket for that day. If you need additional team members to attend, they must purchase their own entry tickets.

Sessions available:

Friday: 4pm – 9pm

Saturday: 11am – 4pm

Sunday: 11am – 4pm

Format: The first hour of each session is bookable in advance (as part of the festival schedule), please use the form below after booking to provide us with information about your game. The remaining hours are open, unreserved playtesting.

Limitations: One Playtest Table booking per day, per designer. Playtest Tables are strictly for unfinished games — no selling, Kickstarter demos, or published titles.

What’s Included

A prime location in the festival hall (next to the Games Library at Sachas or entrance to main open gaming hall at Pendulum).

MBGF Playtest Table-branded tablecloths and signage, plus a large Playtest Area banner.

Whiteboards and “Players Welcome” signs to attract playtesters.

Promotion via our social media, website, printed programme, and the on-site “What’s On” board.

Space for a roller banner if you want to bring one.

Tips for a Successful Playtest

Bring your own feedback sheets and pens.

Have a short, friendly pitch ready to explain your game.

Consider preparing a shorter demo version of your game, especially if it normally takes a long time to play. This helps more players get involved.

Remember: we encourage attendees to try your game, but we can’t guarantee participation.

How to Book

Playtest Table bookings are free, but now include your festival entry cost. You’ll find them listed with the festival tickets for the day you wish to attend.
