Dungeons & Flagons presents Manchester Board Game Festival / Manchesters newest independent Board Game convention

Charity at MBGF

At every Manchester Board Game Festival, we choose a charity to support and fundraise for across the weekend. Giving back is a core part of what MBGF is about, and we’re always blown away by the generosity of our community.

We hope you’ll consider getting involved, whether that’s through donations, special fundraising activities during the festival, or simply spreading the word. Every contribution—big or small—helps us move closer to our fundraising target and make a real difference.

Below you’ll find details of the charity we’re supporting at this festival, the ways you can get involved, and a list of the amazing charities we’ve supported at past events.

Thank you for helping us use games as a force for good

This Festival We are Supporting

Mustard Tree is a Manchester-based charity working to combat poverty and prevent homelessness by creating opportunities for people to improve their economic wellbeing and find safe, settled homes.

They do this through a wide range of practical and compassionate support, including community shops, training placements, support services, gifting schemes, vocational training, and creative classes. Everything they offer is built around dignity, empowerment, and a consistent, warm welcome for everyone who walks through their doors.

We’re proud to be supporting Mustard Tree and helping them continue their vital work within our local community.

How to donate during the festival

There will be plenty of easy ways to support our festival charity throughout the weekend, whether you’re feeling generous on the day or planning ahead.

Donation Buckets & QR Codes
You’ll find collection buckets placed around the festival, along with QR codes in the programme linking directly to our JustGiving page for quick and easy digital donations.

Charity Tombola
Try your luck at our Charity Tombola — just £1 per go, with all proceeds going to charity.

Charity Board Game Pub Quiz – Saturday
Join us on Saturday for our always-popular Charity Board Game Pub Quiz.
Entry is just a £1 donation, payable via the collection buckets or the JustGiving page.

Charity Board Game Bingo – Sunday
On Sunday, we’ll be running Charity Board Game Bingo, another fun, low-stakes way to give back.
Again, entry is a £1 donation via bucket or JustGiving.

Charity Reroll Tickets
Available from the Welcome Desk, these fun little tickets let you reroll or redo a single action during a game over the weekend. They’re purely for fun (and bragging rights!) and make a great way to support the charity while gaming.

Every donation, no matter how small, helps support Mustard Tree and the incredible work they do in our local community. Thank you for helping us turn games into something even more meaningful.
